Because of the rising scale of coronavirus cases may lead to a lockdown extension up to June end. Even though some relaxations may be given in some places with less confirmed cases, the whole country might be recommended to do an 80% lockdown to prevent another beginning of an increase in the cases. The railway tickets are also cancelled till 30th June, so are the other important University examinations like Delhi University.
However, the current epicenters of the virus in the country such as Maharashtra and Gujarat mostly confirmed the extension of the lockdown. Besides, the increasing cases in those states are miserable.
The extension of the lockdown is now in the third phase. The initial stage of lockdown started on March 25 and expected to end on April 14. But it got extended to May 3. It again got extended to May 17. After everything, now in the current situation, It is again on the decision-making desk.
According to the latest report, the total COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country are 83,584 along with a death toll of 2,672. Even though it slows down a little bit in the last 3 days when comparing to the last 13 days, but the situation is not promising right now.
Maharashtra again made an increase of 1495 cases and reported 27,524 confirmed cases. Here the death toll is 1019 which is followed by Gujarat with a toll of 586. Besides, Tamil Nadu stands second in the list with 10108 cases while Tamil Nadu shows a peak level increase in the confirmed cases.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the decision about the extension will be taken after the meeting with the chief ministers of all states.
